The Wimbledon dream of twice runner-up Andy Roddick this year was shattered by Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia who beat the American player and sent him packing through a 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 7-6 score in the second round of the championship on Thursday, June 26.

Tipsarevic, through a well-played game on the grass court, paved out a tactic to retaliate Roddick’s big serve. His win has managed to keep Serbia in limelight in the Wimbledon’s men’s singles event especially as other players like Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki have already exited.

Andy Roddick, who happens to be a former world number one, was defeated in the quarter-final round the previous year. This time around too, Andy Roddick fired some powerful aces, but the Serbian opponent made the most of his few break opportunities. In the all eight times that Andy Roddick has visited Wimbledon, this was the first when he did not make it at least to the third round.
