New Zealand coach Andy Moles resigned from his post on Saturday. The news was confirmed by New Zealand Cricket officials. This also brings an end to the stand-off in which senior players had appealed for his dismissal.
Chief executive Justin Vaughan said that there would be no immediate replacement for the upcoming series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. This leaves the New Zealand side coachless for the series.
English-born Moles had taken up the post last November replacing John Bracewell and was in contract till 2011 World Cup. The 48-year-old Moles said he held no grudge against the players but was upset on the questions raised on his abilities.
The former Warwickshire batsman said,"It is unfortunate that it (coaching deficiencies) wasn't raised before and that will be looked at, I'm sure, by New Zealand Cricket going forward.”
"If I had got some feedback earlier, we may have been able to quell this problem and been aware of it."
