According to a charity, frogs, newts, toads, lizards and snakes are facing “mounting extinction crisis” across Europe and UK.

The charity concerned is Amphibian and Reptile Conservation, that is the merger of The Herpetological Conservation Trust and The Froglife Trust.

The charity told many major threats are present to reptiles and amphibians. Some among these are habitat loss, pollution, non-native diseases, climate change and the isolation of populations by roads and other infrastructure.

According to an International Union for Conservation of Nature study, about 59% of the European amphibians and 42% of the reptile species are vanishing.
