Indian millennium star Amitabh Bacchan recently inaugurated a charity on diabetes testing in UK. The charity 'Silver Star Appeal' was organized by British MP Keith Vaz. Amitabh Bachchan underwent a diabetes test and was given all-clearance.. Mr Vaz, an Indian origin MP amusingly said that he gave Bachchan a self-testing kit to take away.

 

Mr Bachchan commenting on his participation in noble cause said that after his brush with death in 1982, where he was badly wounded shooting a fight scene for the film 'Coolie' he became aware of the need for supporting health causes. He said that he was in UK to support a noble cause and make people aware of diabetes; also, he would like to replicate same in India.

 

Mr Bachchan further said that he is sure that India too have many such initiatives and if he could link up and do something more in spreading awareness on diabetes in India. He wished that if a face and a voice can help spread the message, then he would be more than happy to be that face and voice. At the event Amitabh Bachchan urged Indians to get check ups for diabetes.
