The recent passing away of noted American soul and funk singer cum songwriter Isaac Hayes has come like an unexpected jolt to the music industry. Hayes was 65 years old. As per sources he collapsed near a treadmill in his home located just east of Memphis, though what exactly caused the death is still unknown.   

Among his most popular compositions include the music of the 1971 blaxploitation film Shaft, which won him a Golden Globe, a Grammy, and an Oscar. Isaac Hayes was included into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. The late singer is survived by his fourth wife Adjowa, 12 children, 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
