Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni congratulated Doordarshan for covering the remote parts of the country which is neglected by the private channels for their commercial interests. The minister was addressing Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT), a Delhi-based NGO, on the occasion of Doordarshan turning 50.
Ambika Soni also invited ace filmmaker, Shyam Benegal to enrich the channel with his creativity again. Shyam Benegal had earlier directed the memorable ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ serial for Doordarshan.
The minister also promised to make DD more vibrant and interesting. She also added that Doordarshan will try to make more programmes for family audiences. Ambika Soni also insisted that her ministry would continue to encourage creative skills.
Information and Broadcasting Minister urged the young filmmakers to take up the challenge of making relevant programmes for the marginalized strata of society.
Director, Adoor Gopalakrishnan's latest movie, ‘Oru Pennum Randaanum’ which is produced by DD was screened on the occasion.
