The chairman of engineering giant L&T Anil Manibhai Naik has been selected as the business leader of the year by ET Awards 2008. Mr Naik has won the title of business leader of the year for his passion and commitment and also for his efforts in building up a professional company with great management depth. The title of business woman of the year has been bagged by Shikha Sharma. She is the managing director of ICICI Prudential. The jury-vote for the company of the year goes to Tata Steel which was in tough competition with Reliance India Limited (RIL).
The Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro, AM Naik hails from Andhel in South Gujarat where he studied engineering. Anil Manibhai Naik joined L&T in 1965 as a junior engineer and shortly became the youngest manager in Larsen & Toubro history. He has attained much success for his commitment and extensive hard work. The jury of ET Awards 2008 has unanimously elected him as the business leader of the year.
Indra Nooyi the chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, Anshu Jain, head of global markets, Deutsche Bank; Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro; Deepak Parekh, chairman ofHDFC; Harish Manwani, president, Asia, Africa, Central & Eastern Europe, Unilever are among the jury members of ET Awards 2008.
