Delhi is all set to get the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) as the central government has approved the plan. The institute at New Delhi will indulge in research and scientific validation of ayurvedic medicines. According to Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Panabaka Lakshmi, AIIA will be located at Sarita Vihar in New Delhi. Besides the research works, the institute will focus on drug safety evaluation and standardization of ayurvedic medicines. Post graduate and doctoral course will be offered by the newly planned AIIA.
Speaking about ayurveda institute, Lakshmi said that AIIA will treat about 250 to 300 patients daily. The new institute is likely to start its service by March 2012. She also informed that there will be about 200 bed research and referral hospital in the new ayurveda institute. The plan of setting up an ayurveda institute in national capital will enable the people of the region to get the benefits of ayurvedic medicines and therapies. Over the years, the therapies have become immensely popular in healing various incurable maladies. Also, the evaluation of ayurvedic medicines by AIIA will improve the standards of these medicines.
