Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai arrived at the 61st Cannes Film Festival along with hubby Abhishek Bachchan. The couple sparkled at the Cannes as they appeared together for the premiere of 'Blindness' along with superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
The family specially flew into the Cannes to be present at the world's most famed international film festival. Atleast 20 Indian directors are expected to attend this event from Sunday, 18th June. The curtains of the Cannes festivals went up on the event with the screening of 'Blindness', the film which is Oscar nominated Brazilian director Fernando Meirelle's screen adaptation of Portuguese Nobel Laureate Jose Saramago's apocalyptic novel about a town stuck by a mysterious epidemic that leads to everybody, except a doctor's wife, losing his eyesight.
In the year 2003, Aishwarya Rai was on the main jury panel. Her association with the red carpet stands on her being the brand ambassador of L'Oreal, the French cosmetics giant that sponsors the Cannes Film festival. But that alone is not the reason why the Bachchans are at the Cannes. During the next few days, Bachchan senior and junior along with daughter-in-law will be participating in the promotional activities of several films, including Ram Gopal Varma's 'Sarkar Raj' and Goldie Behl's much awaited fantasy fair 'Drona'.
