Going against wave Air India will not increase its fares in the festive month of October. The decision from Air India has come at a time when other private airlines, e.g. Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines, have decided to increase their fares by 10% and 5% respectively.
An official from Air India talking about the viability and wisdom of the decision said that the company has decided to take other measures to cut costs than just increasing the fare. Accordingly, in line with a report prepared by a global agency, Air India will use fuel efficiency measures from this month to save costs.
Also, according to firm, there would be no selling of last-minute tickets at throwaway prices. The airline considers that the load factor will go up during the festive season, and there would be no need to go extra to fetch travelers. Finally, the reduced ATF price is expected to reduce pressure on the airline.
