The employees of Air India will be receiving performance incentives which will be 30% to 50% less than what they normally receive. This decision has been taken by Air India because of its “penniless“ condition.
The decision taken by the management has been accepted by union leaders as well as workers.
The employee incentives alone constitute about Rs.130 crore of the airline's expenses.
Air India is trying to convert its high cost debts into low cost ones for which discussion with banks are going on. The national air carrier has also sought for help from government.
The airline also plans to launch low-cost services from September to bring down the operational costs.
