According to two schools, which are run by the Indian Air Force Benevolent Cultural and Educational Society, they do not have to follow the interim order issued on fee hikes since these schools do not come under the scope of recognised schools of the government.
This was told by the school in a reply to the petition that had been submitted before the division bench of Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Valmiki J. Mehta. According to the authorities managing the schools, these schools which are run by Indian Air Force come under the category of unrecognised and unaided schools. Because of this, they need not follow the order that has been issued with respect to interim fee hike.
"The school is for the children of air force personnel and a fee hike is necessary to maintain the quality of education and other basic necessities," the reply stated.
Delhi High Court had earlier issued a notice to the schools on a petition from the Delhi Abhibhavak Mahasangh (parents' organisation), filed via counsel Ashok Aggarwal, who argued that the Air Force Nursery School and Air Force Junior School had failed to comply with the court's May 28 directive to schools on the procedure to be followed for hiking the fees.
The tuition fee had been increased from Rs. 475 per month to Rs.1,000 by the Air Force Nursery School during July first week whereas the Air Force Junior School had increased the tuition fee from Rs.435 to RS.1,100 per month.
