The prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will introduce reservation quota from the coming academic session. Ever since the government announced the reservation quota there were severe protests all over the country, with AIIMS being the epicenter of the protests.

 

After the Supreme Court upheld the government's decision for the 27 % reservation quota for the OBCs in higher educational institutions, AIIMS is seeking to implement the quota this year.

 

Union health minister Ambumani Ramadoss said that the exclusion of the creamy layer outside the quota is unfair as many MPs have bailed the country in times of trouble and have even not taken their salaries. When Ramadoss was asked about the increase of seats in the institution said that such issues would be discussed later.
