The All India Institute of Medical Sciences is going to run a pre-marriage course that promises to be the key to a happy married life. The two day course will commence from July 29 and has been organized by the health promotion and health communication unit of the hospital. Bir Singh, professor of community medicine and convener of the course revealed that the course is open to all above 18 years planning to get married.

The main aim of the course is to clear sexual myths and educate people about sex. Bir Singh, who is also a sex and marriage counselor, remarked that during the course they will give information about anatomy, sexually transmitted diseases, sex related myths and also screening of genetic disorders. Mr. Singh also noted that the incidence of marital discord and sexual disharmony, HIV/AIDS and STDs among young couples is immensely increasing.

Bir Singh suggested that apart from stress, ignorance, myths and misconceptions about the human body and sex and failure to adjust in marriage were the principle reasons of this rise.  The course will accommodate 30 people per course, who will be charged a nominal sum as registration fees. There are no set criteria for participating in the course; you merely need to be 18 years above in age and the registration will be made on first come first serve basis.
