Essar Group-owned Aegis has bought Australian business firm UCMS Group for Rs 200 crore. The acquisition will enable business process outsourcing firm Aegis to add 2000 employees of Australia-based UCMS Group. According to company sources, Aegis BPO Services Australia has signed a definitive agreement to acquire all shares of UCMS Group through an all-cash transaction. Aegis BPO Services Australia is affiliated to Aegis.
The acquisition deal is expected to be completed by August this year. As per the deal, Aegis’ Australian affiliate will pay UCMS stockholders around $0.68 per share per share in cash. This is the twelfth acquisition accomplished by Aegis over the last three years. In August last year, the BPO company had acquired PeopleSupport for $250 million. The acquisition of PeopleSupport helped Aegis to spread out its operations in Philippines.
With the acquisition of UCMS, Aegis will able to expand its presence in Australian market. The Australia-based UCMS Group garners a huge chunk of its revenues from verticals like banking, finance services & insurance (BFSI), telecom and healthcare. According to Aegis global CEO and managing director Aparup Sengupta, UCMS' engagement across multiple verticals will help the company to expand its footprint in Australia.
Currently, Aegis has nine outsourcing centres in the US, which cater to the US clients. The lion's share of Aegis revenue comes from the US. The BPO firm is planning to venture into emerging markets like Africa. Aegis operates its services through 32 global locations and serves more than 60 companies worldwide.
