Aditya Birla Nuvo has logged a net profit of Rs.59.2 crore for the second quarter of the 2009-10 fiscal which ended on Sep 30 as against the Rs.65.31 crore reported during the corresponding period previous fiscal.
The total income of the firm has been registered at Rs.1,249.18 crore for the period under review, 7.48% down from the Rs.1,350.26 crore reported during last year.
Aditya Birla Nuvo's “earnings improved in the quarter owing to improved profitability of its business process outsourcing, rayon and carbon black business”, with its garments and life insurance businesses reporting lesser losses.
"As a result, net profit improved considerably even after absorbing higher depreciation consequent to expansion in the telecom business," a company statement said.
