Diversified business group of Aditya Birla will now be developing a sea part in the Bhadrak district of Orissa, for which a deal worth Rs.1,500 crore was signed yesterday.
The proposed Chudamani port will be constructed over a period of 4 years with an expected capacity of three million tonnes per annum in the first phase. Susequenlty, it will be increased to 10 million tonnes per annum.
The Aditya Birla group will run the port on build, own, operate (BOO) basis, it added. With two berths, the port will have the potential for handling bulk cargos including iron ore, thermal coal, limestone, gypsum, clinker, aluminium, cement and copper.
"In this port, directly or indirectly, about 5,000 people will be employed. By operation of the port, the state government will get revenue about Rs.20 crore per annum," the statement said.
