Emmy Award winning American actress Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is presently undergoing treatment. Her publicist Ame Van Iden said in a statement recently that the fatal disease was detected early in the actress and that she stands the chance of complete recovery.

It was an MRI scan suggested by a doctor which revealed that the actress is suffering from breast cancer. The MRI scan report also underscores that it is presently at a non-threatening stage. On September 5, Christina Applegate will feature in an hour long TV special called Stand Up To Cancer, which will be telecast on ABC, CBS and NBC.

The aim of this television special is to raise money for cancer research. Applegate has been nominated for an Emmy as well as a Golden Globe for the show ‘Samantha Who?’. She plays the lead character, Samantha Newly who rises from a coma with no memory of absolutely who she is.
