Bangalore-based ACT Television has launched the first interactive TV services (IPTV) in Bangalore on Thursday (February 26). The company also assured that its IPTV service will also be introduced in cities across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. Under its newly launched services in Bangalore, ACT will initially offer Internet videos, movies on demand, pause and play live television facilities.
According to the managing director of ACT Television, Sunder Raju, the company is very proud to initiate the launch of first IPTV service in India. He added that with the help of technology providers, ACT Television will provide reliable interactive TV services in the country. The Bangalore-based company has entered into partnerships with various vendors like MRO-TEK, Scopus, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Oracle and others for servers, hardware and networking applications.
Informing about the IPTV services, chief consultant technology at ACT Television, Kirti Simha said that the company has tied up with YouTube which will enable the viewers to watch 50,000 videos in the next three months. ACT's IPTV service also offers movie-on-demand facility with the help of which a subscriber can choose films across various categories.
The subscribers will be offered with a set-top box for Rs 4,999 in addition to Rs 300 as cable charges and Rs 350 per months for unlimited Internet access. ACT Television will provide the customers with a hard disk at extra cost which will enable them to download movies and videos and view it later. The company also plans to incorporate more features like VoIP, Messaging, Gaming, videoconferencing, e-Shopping, send email, voice mails, chatting and online interactive education in its IPTV services.
