After successfully pairing Abhishek and Aishwarya in Guru, Mani Ratnam is next going to feature the couple as Ram and Sita in his upcoming film that is based on the epic, Ramayana. For the role of hanuman, one hears the veteran Tamil director had roped in the much loved and pudgy Govinda.
Mani Ratnam is reportedly very excited about his forthcoming project. He had even roped in Tamil actor Vikram to play the demon king, Ravan. Interestingly, Vikram will also get to play Ram in the Tamil version of the same movie. The new modernized version of Ramayan by Mani Ratnam has become the talk of the Indian film industry.
Sources divulge that just like the film Jodhaa-Akbar which highlighted the romance between the Akbar and Jodhabai, Ratnam’s Ramayana will focus on the romance aspect between Rama and Sita. As to what exactly will be the storyline of the film is not known, but it will be made under Ratnam's banner Madras Talkies and will be produced by his sister Sharda.
