John Abraham starrer movie, ‘Aashayein’ is due for 27th August release and its director Nagesh Kukunoor is now planning to try his hands on acting. He has also acted in a short role in the movie and he wants a bigger bite now.

The last film in which Nagesh acted was back in the year 2004, ‘Hyderabad Blues 2’, after that he did his directing assignments, the recent one being ‘Aashayein’. The story of Aashayein revolves around a gambler (John Abraham), who realizes the new aspects in his life with the turn of many events and at last becomes a better person.

Nagesh did a cameo in the movie with John and he plays a bookie in the movie. He adds, “A very random spur-of-the-moment thing. It took me just one day to shoot for the part. I have been getting this itch to sink my teeth into a substantial role and this cameo was a result of that want. For the last few years, I've been offered a couple of roles but none of them were exciting enough."

But Nagesh is very choosy about doing roles and he recently rejected an offer of playing the role of a husband as he thought that the role was too simple and linear. He wants very challenging role to play as he thinks such roles as his forte.

As a director, his next project is a small love-story and he is looking out for choosing the best location options for the film. Nagesh adds, “My next as a director will be a small love story. We are looking at several locations around here, and it was also a great excuse to get out of Mumbai."

Aashayein is a long delayed film and he feels very restless in such situations, he adds, “It's difficult and agonizing to wait for your film to release. There was a delay with my other film Bollywood Calling as well, but not to this extent. I think the only emotion I have before the release of my film is immense relief."
