Oscar winner maestro A R Rahman`s ‘A R Rahman Foundation’ wants to make poverty a thing of the past.
In the initial step towards realising his dream of "strive towards making poverty history", his Foundation will set up educational institutions and make available world class, state-of-the-art infrastructure and education to underprivileged children who do not have the means to fund their education.
This will endow them with knowledge and skill to pursue specialised higher studies that will provide them good opportunities in their career and thus help them build a secure future for themselves and their families.
Rahman is giving a live 'Jai Ho' concert in Kolkata on November 14 in support of the cause.
Renowned Hindu statesman Rajan Zed has commended Rahman for his initiative in making poverty history.
Zed is the President of Universal Society of Hinduism and has urged other celebrities from the world of entertainment to follow Rahman’s footsteps in contributing to the eradication of poverty.
