Defence Minister A K Antony, in a forceful rejection of Pakistan’s claim of Indian funding Taliban, mentioned that these blames were totally baseless.

“The claim is totally baseless,” Defence Minister AK Antony said, raising objection to Pakistan’s claim.

He was reacting to the claim put forward by Pakistan’s Interior Minister saying India was among the sources that are providing fund s to Taliban for disrupting the harmony of Pakistan.

“…India considers Taliban a threat to world peace,” Antony added.

He also said that India was in the process of diversifying its weapons system but it was time consuming as, “unlike our neighbouring countries, we follow certain procedures,” he said.

Union Minister for External Affairs S M Krishna, who is in Bangalore for the trilateral meeting of India, Russia and China, had also reacted to the comments made by the Pakistan’s Interior Minister saying that India always wishes for the complete elimination of Talibanism.

Malik had mentioned that he "convinced" India is among "certain hostile agencie” providing funding to Taliban for creating chaos in Paklistan.

When asked about the source of funding for Taliban, he said "There are certain hostile elements against Pakistan and there are certain hostile agencies which do not want Pakistan to be (stabilised)."

When asked if India was also a part of that, the Pak Interior Minister said, "Yes, of course, I am convinced. I have no doubt about it. I was very open. I have given the full details.

"If the interior minister of India or anyone else wants to confront me, I will be very happy to confront them because I know what I am saying," he added.

Malik had said last week that Pakistan has "solid evidence" of India's alleged involvement in fomenting unrest in Balochistan province and this can be shared with Indian ministers or representatives at any forum of their choice.

"I invite their interior minister or anyone else (to come to Pakistan) and I will put on record all the material about India's interference in Balochistan. I'll prove it to the world," he had said.
