The 6th National Film Festival will be held at Kozhikode from the 3rd – 6th of August. Organised under Kerala State Chalachithra Academy, the festival will be inaugurated by State minister for Culture, M A Baby at the Tagore Centenary Hall on 3rd August.
 
The fest has 3 categories - Malayalam Cinema, NFDC section and Indian cinema. Around 16 Indian films will be screened in the festival which will include Firaaq, the much controversial movie directed by Nandita Das, Gulabi Talkies by Girish Kasaravalli, Bhoomimalayalam, by T.V. Chandran and the years state award winner Bioscope, directed by K.M. Madhusudhan.
