A conference for deciding on the procedures as well as schedule of the 3G mobile spectrum auction will be held on Oct 12.
"Department officials are going to Geneva to attend a conference, so the pre-bid meet will be held around Oct 12," said IT and Communication Minister A. Raja on Friday.
He was addressing the media during a conference of the information, communications and technology which was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Tamil Nadu government.
When asked about the divesting of the stakes of the national telecom provider, BSNL, Raja said: "BSNL will be listed only on the consent of employee unions”.
The minister said the government also planned to shift information technology from the central list to the concurrent list so that the states have more say in this regard.
Post, telegraph, telephones, wireless, broadcasting and other like other forms of communications are currently in the union list.
He has also disclosed that eight proposals worth Rs.70,000 crore have been cleared for semiconductor manufacturers.
"Most of the investments are in photo-voltaic projects," the minister said.
