Apple Inc CEO, Steve Jobs on Monday, June 9, 2008 unveiled the much awaited 3G iPhone that is much faster than the iPhone and is priced way to less than its predecessor. CEO Steve Jobs remarked that the new iPhone, which is based on 3G technology, is 36 percent faster than top rival Nokia’s N95 smartphone. The 3G iPhone was announced by Jobs at the company’s annual World Wide Developers conference in San Francisco.
The new model will sell for $199 for an 8GB device and $299 for a 16 GB model. The 3G iPhone will be put on sale from July 11 onwards. The new iPhone is also slightly thinner than the previous iPhone and also offers GPS location tracking. Steve Jobs also announced a slew of other applications for the new iPhone. The new applications include a wireless system that automatically forwards e-mail to other devices, mobile blogging software from TypePad, a friend finding service called Loopt and another application called Cow Terry that allows users to easily create songs on the phone. The new iPhone will be made available in more than seventy countries in the coming months, including all of Latin America, Britain, Ireland, Hong Kong, the Philippines and many African countries but not Russia or China.
