According to reports, a top executive at the O2 said that Apple and Telefonica, of which O2 is a subsidiary, will make a statement on behalf of the two companies in the coming weeks. Its time for the new 3G iPhone to hit the market. It is said that Apple is out of iPhone in its online store, which is leading to lots of speculations. According to one such report, Steve Jobs will announce an updated 3G model of the iPhone which will hit the markets soon enough.
Apple's hugely successful iPhone is out of stock; both the 8GB and the 16GB versions have totally sold out. Apple spokesperson Natalie Kerris told Bloomberg News that the updated iPhone's launch was very close. Meanwhile, Apple issued a press release on Tuesday which announced that Steve Jobs would be giving an address at the World Wide Development Conference on June 9, where he will highlight the conference's first-ever iPhone tract.
Apple said that that the five day conference is scheduled to run from June 9 to June 13, and will feature the first ever iPhone track for mobile developers. It will also conduct some in-depth sessions with the developers which will help to fully explore the capabilities of the OSX iPhone 2.0 software, which includes the iPhone SDK and the App store. The App store is a new technology which would help developers to wirelessly deliver their applications to iPhone and iPod touch.
Apple is also planning to launch its iPhone 2.0 software next month with the much anticipated 3G iPhone, which is capable of transmitting data at faster speeds than the current variety. The iPhone 2.0 software will allow users to access Microsoft Exchange from their iPhones. When the iPhone was launched, it was criticized for the lack of Exchange support because it limited the potential of the phone in the business market. In the U.S, AT&T has an exclusive contract with Apple, thus barring the resellers from selling the iPhone at their own stores.
Meanwhile, as is known with Apple, it continues to keep quiet the exact launch date of the 3G iPhone. However, it is known that Steve Jobs is keeping the launch of the new updated iPhone for the annual developers’ conference. Now, all eyes are literally on Jobs.
