According to Chinese news agency Xinhua at least 24 persons have been killed in a deadly earthquake of 6.1 Richter scale in Sichuan province of China. The epicenter of the quake was about 50 km southeast of downtown Panzhihua. The exact location of the place is 26.2 degrees north latitude and 101.9 degrees east longitude.

 

According to China Earthquake Administration the quake erupted at a depth of 10 km. In the aftermath of quake at least 400 people were injured in the place of Renhe district in Panzhihua and Huili. The quake came at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday. There has been a huge destruction of infrastructures, including of houses. Rescue work is taken on war footing by Chinese authorities.

 

The year so far has been horrific for Chinese people; earlier, in the month of May, a deadly earthquake came in China and claimed thousands of lives. The 7.8-magnitude earthquake then had rattled China, and reportedly killed 7600 persons. There were more than 10,000 persons injured. The quake had caused a huge loss in terms of human capital and infrastructure to China.
