At the twelve day prestigious Cannes Film Festival, 22 films from across the globe are vying for the top honors. Established Hollywood filmmakers and stars such as Angelina Jolie and Clint Eastwood were competing against movies from acclaimed international directors for the top honors at the film Festival on Sunday, May 25, 2008. Amongst the 22 films, there are entries from Brazil, Kazakhstan, United States, Lebanon, France and Italy among others.
Amongst few of the strongest entries, which was also a critics favorite was Clint Eastwood’s ‘Changeling’, starring Angelina Jolie in a true life story of a Los Angeles woman battling corrupt police to find her missing son after authorities return the wrong boy in his place. Few other films which were a part of the 22 short listed films are Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas’s ‘Linha De Passe’, Laurent Cantet’s ‘The Class’ a classroom drama shot in a French school using real students and teachers, Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Che’ and Ari Folman’s ‘Waqltz with Bashir’.
