According to reports, the new 2011 Volkswagen Touareg will be launched in India towards the end of this year.
Volkswagen (VW) has announced the latest 2011-spec Touareg sports utility vehicle, which is claimed to be about 208 kilos lighter and about 20% more fuel-efficient than its previous model.
The company has also developed a hybrid version of this SUV for the first time that can travel up to 50km in full electric mode.
The hybrid variant of VW is expected to come with a range of petrol and diesel engines having hordes of features like eight-speed automatic gearbox (optional), stop-start technology and 4Motion all-wheel-drive. A host of electronics are also there for optimising the vehicle’s on- and off-road handling and dynamics.
However, it may take some time to get the details of pricing and availability of this VW model in India.
