2009 BMW 7-Series will make its debut at Paris Auto Show 2008. The series has already been launched in the British Motor Show of 2008. BMW's latest generation 7-Series luxury sedan boasts of two models, as of now, - 750i and 750Li. The models have been equipped with 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, introduced in the new X6 model. The engine promises to deliver 400 horsepower, along with 450 pound-feet of torque.

BMW 750i and 750Li will have a wheelbase that is 5.5 inches longer than the previous model. The V8 engine has also been combined with 6-speed automatic transmission, with shifter moved from the steering column back to the center console. In case of European markets, however, more versions of engine will be provided. These include the 3.0-liter twin turbo diesel that delivers 242 horsepower and 399 lb-feet of torque. Then, there is twin-turbo gasoline 3.0-liter inline-six, which has been upgraded to 323 horsepower and 332 lb-feet of torque.

Rolling 2009 BMW 7-Series will be 18-inch alloy wheels, coming in all-season run-flat tires in a 245/50R18 size. There is also an option of going for 19-inch wheels, which will again have the choice of two styles. For the new series, BMW has used more aluminum, reducing the weight by around 120 lbs. A flap in the grille eliminates unneeded airflow and improves mileage. The option list also includes four-wheel steering. IMS, a new active chassis management system, also allows the user choice of Comfort, Normal, Sport and Sport Plus settings.

Sensitivity of the stability control system, lane departure warning system and night vision system are the other major features of 2009 BMW 7-Series. The latter one detects human presence in front of the vehicle and flashes a warning symbol. However, the system can only give a warning and has no control over the speed of the vehicle. 2009 BMW 7-Series will be available for purchase in Europe from November 2008. US will have to wait for Los Angeles International Autoshow of November, for its debut and till spring of 2009, for its sale.
