After Beijing Olympics, China is all set to facilitate nearly 4000 athletes from around 150 countries in its Paralympic games. It inaugurated Paralympic games on Saturday amidst a huge fanfare. According to Philip Craven, President of International Paralympic Committee this time the number of participant countries have increased and that is great news for Paralympics.

 

Like Olympic Games there would be a tough competition for medals here too. Athletes will fight for 472 gold medals in 20 sports. The venue of the games would be the same ground that was used for last month's Olympics. Philip Craven said that he is confident that the game would be the greatest Games before they even start .

 

Among 20 games that will feature in Paralympic some are athletics, swimming, powerlifting, and wheelchair fencing. China is expected to dominate these games too, but South Africa's double amputee track sensation Oscar Pistorius would be the center of attention. He had won five gold medals in last Paralympics in Athens. He is the athlete to reckon with in the Beijing Paralympic.
