Wildlife enthusiast and those worried over the dwindling population of Tigers finally have some news to cheer as fourteen tiger cubs were spotted at Rajasthan’s Ranthambore National Park. Rajasthan’s chief wildlife warden, RN Mehrotra has remarked that they have spotted at least 14 tiger cubs in batches in the recent past. This is significant news as Tiger population had almost halved at Ranthambore and Sariska the other infamous Tiger Reserve has not even a single tiger left due to poaching.

The cubs were spotted at ponds and reservoirs closely following their mothers. Mr. Mehrotra remarked that the water bodies in the National Park are closely watched by the wardens and other forest officials to keep a track on the number of endangered Tigers. Most of the cubs are speculated to be about three months old. However two cubs about six months old were also spotted at the Berda area of the park. Range Forest Officer, Daulat Singh Shakhtawat remarked that they are tracking the activities of the cubs closely as they are still in the process of marking territories.
