Tenth episode of Osian’s-Cinefan Film Festival has started at New Delhi. Smt. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi state inaugurated the festival. The ten days long festival will show nearly 200 films. Started on 10th July the festival will come to close on 20th of July. Films from 40 countries are slotted to for the show.
Famous film director Mrinal Sen received Aruna Vasudev Lifetime achievement award for his contribution to alternative cinema and avant garde films. He was awarded on the first day of the film festival. On the same occasion famous journalist Jose F. Lacaba of Philippines received Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to cinema.
On the opening day of the festival, a film from Hong Kong titled ‘Sparrow' was shown. The Johnny To directed film received great public applause. Johnny To the maverick Hong Kong filmmaker, to overcome language barriers prefers visuals to dialogues. The festival will conclude on 20 of July with the screening of ‘Mumbai Cutting.’
