Fiat (Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino), an Italian automaker, was established by a group of investors, including Giovanni Agnelli, in 1899. It is headquartered in Turin, Italy. The company has more than a hundred year's experience in the motor vehicle sector and continues to be one of the most prominent automakers of Italy. Fiat cars are manufactured in many countries of the world and the company entered the Indian automobile market in 1951, unveiling its first car. Later, it launched Uno in India, in 1982.
The launch of Palio in 1997, did not impress the Indian consumers. As a result, the company entered a joint venture with Tata, with the aim of strengthening its Indian operations. The JV with Tata changed the fate of Fiat. It succeeded to mark its presence in the Indian car market. Now, the automaker is aspiring to gain a superior position in the automobile industry. It has launched Palio Stile (hatchback), Palio Multijet (hatchback), Fiat 500 (two-door coupe) and Linea (sedan) and is working towards bringing more cars in Indian market.
