Engine
Under the hood of the petrol models of Tata Indigo XL lies a powerful 1.4L MPFi DOHC engine, which pumps out a power of 101 PS @ 6100 rpm and a maximum torque of 124 Nm @ 3500 rpm. On the other hand, the diesel models of the sedan are equipped with 1.4L Turbo-charged DiCOR engine, which generates a power of 70 PS @ 4000 rpm with a peak torque of 140 Nm @ 1800 rpm. The petrol model of the sedan promises to deliver a top speed of 164 km/h, while the diesel variants can reach a top speed of 156 km/h.
Design And Comfort
The chassis of Tata Indigo XL has undergone some structural changes, due to the increased wheelbase. It comes with better reinforcement in the chassis. While the overall length of the car has been increased a bit from its previous model, its width, height and ground clearance remain the same. Talking about comfort, the five-seater sedan offers high level of comfort to its occupants. The six-way powered front seats, with lumbar support, are quite comfortable. A relaxing ride is also ensured for the people in the rear.
Interiors
The expanded wheelbase of Tata Indigo XL makes its interiors roomy and dramatically increases the legroom for the rear seat occupants. The big rear doors open wide, thereby facilitating easy ingress and egress of the passengers. The dual-toned interiors of the sedan get wooden finish on the steering wheel as well as the instrument cluster. A DVD based 4-speaker entertainment system has been integrated on the instrument panel, for entertainment on the move. Cup-holders have been provided in the centre armrest, for the rear seat occupants.
Ride And Handling
Tata Indigo XL is equipped with independent McPherson strut - with anti-roll bar suspension in the front wheels, while the wheels in the rear are mated with independent 3-link McPherson strut - with anti-roll bar. Both coordinate to absorb the bumps and potholes on uneven Indian roads. The rack and pinion collapsible steering wheel has improved handling of the automobile, as compared to its previous model. The softened suspension system has improved the ride quality of the vehicle as well.

Safety
The advanced safety features of Tata Indigo XL include anti-submarine front seats, child safety locks in the rear doors, auto locking of doors 5 seconds after cranking, seat belts, audio warning signal for driver's seat belt, body control module, engine immobilizer and automatic disabling of starter motor when the engine is running.
Variants, Price And Color
The four variants of Tata Indigo XL are Classic Petrol, Classic Dicor, Grand Petrol, Grand Dicor. The mid-size sedan was launched with a price tag of Rs 6.7 lakh (approx). It is available in four colors, including Carbon Black, Royal Burgundy, Arctic Silver and Ivory White.
