Going one step ahead of a model that has already been introduced into the market is a tough step. What should one introduce into this model to make it sell higher without affecting the sales of the predecessor? How should it be made for user friendly? These are only a few concerns. Olympus, for once, does try to answer all such questions with the FE 4020, an upgraded version of the 4010, 14mp camera with a 4x wide angle zoom.

Design and Functioning

Though its looks are similar to that of its predecessor the FE 4010 and it is just as economical and user friendly, the FE 4020 scores heavily on features and a higher resolution. Its 4x optical zoom range encompasses a focal range of 26mm to 105mm. The FE-4020 includes what the company calls Magic Filters, similar to the in-camera Art Filters first introduced in Olympus digital SLRs in 2009. These new Magic Filters include "Pop Art", "Pin Hole", "Fish-Eye" and "Drawing" filters to enhance and transform ordinary pictures. This camera also employs a contrast-detection autofocus system operating off data streaming from the camera's image sensor. It also features the digital Image Stabilization function for sharper pictures, which combines high ISO and faster shutter speeds. Olympus’ Shadow Adjustment function helps ensuring that the subjects' faces are captured with appropriate brightness without blowing out the background in backlit scenes. It comes with internal memory of 18MB and is compatible with SD/SDHC cards.
