We all want a little more out of the money that we pay, don’t we? Especially when it comes to cameras, which have now been trained to take care of every mistake or error of judgment made by us, we always expect something more than what is given. Perhaps this is the reason why companies like Canon are coming up with Semi professional cameras like the Canon PowerShot SX20 IS, which gives the levels of control that a professional camera would offer. Its resolution is 12mp and it comes with a zoom range of a whopping 20x, among other features that render this camera suitable for those who want more than just clicking away.

Design and Functioning

When a camera is endowed with features that offer the controls that only a professional DLSR offers, it should at least look like a miniature of it! The Canon PowerShot SX20 IS even looks like an SLR designed for kids, though it really is no kid-stuff and is actually a force to be reckoned with. It is rather heavy for a Prosumer camera, perhaps because it offers a zoom range as impressive as 20x, with the 35mm equivalent of 28-560mm! It has a shutter speed range from 15 seconds to 1/3200th second. Other features that it comes with are built-in stereo microphones and speaker, Low-light focus assist illuminator to help the user focus when lighting conditions do not seem favourable as also a Stitch Assist mode to help create perfect panoramic pictures. While other cameras come with the digital image stabilization function, this camera comes with the Optical Image Stabilization, which makes the picture immune to blur or shake. It is compatible with SD, SDHC, MMC and High Capacity MMC cards.
