Canon PowerShot SX130 IS

Lately, the world is waking upto the advantages of compact digital cameras being equipped with image stabilization, and more so optical or mechanical stabilization. The technology is all the more useful when it comes to superzoom or mega zoom cameras, wherein at full telephoto, the smallest shake of the hand is exaggerated beyond imagination. Thus, a good superzoom or mega zoom camera should be equipped with optical image stabilization. Canon, thankfully, dedicated a whole range of its PowerShot/IXUS cameras to the technology of erasing the effects of blur or shake, which is why all of its newest cameras are labeled IS, which stands for Image Stabilization, for instance the recently released Canon PowerShot SX130 IS, which is a 12mp and 12x superzoom camera.

Design and Functioning

Dumping the traditional image of a superzoom camera, that of a miniature DSLR with non-interchangeable lens, the Canon PowerShot SX130 IS sports fluid and easy like some of its best models. It is much smaller than many of them too. The 12x optical zoom provides a focal range from wide angle (28mm) to telephoto (336mm), making this camera equally ideal for wide-angle group shots and taking on sightseeing trips. The large, 7.5cm (3.0”) LCD screen, with a 230k dot resolution and optional on-screen Hints & Tips makes it easy to navigate the enhanced menu system and to compose the perfect shot. A wide viewing angle also enables shooting from awkward angles, as well as sharing the results with groups of friends immediately after the picture is taken. The PowerShot SX130 IS supports 720p HD video with stereo sound, allowing users to immediately switch from photos to high-quality video and back again with one convenient, compact camera. Smart Auto with Scene Detection Technology identifies up to 28 different shooting conditions, automatically adjusting the settings to produce the best possible result. Smart Flash Exposure controls flash levels according to shooting conditions, providing the right amount of flash to ensure perfectly exposed shots in all situations. An SD card of 128MB is provided with this camera that is compatible with SD/SDHC/SDXC as well as MMC/MMC+ cards.
